Foundation Stone laying ceremony

of Judicial Complex at Moonak

      Hon'ble Mr. Justice Ashok Bhan, Judge, Supreme Court of India today laid the foundation stone of the New Judicial Complex here, in the presence of Hon'ble Mr.Justice Vijender Jain, Chief Justice, Punjab and Haryana High Court. Apart from Hon'ble Smt.Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab and Hon'ble Mr.Surinder Singla, Finance Minister, Punjab, 19 Hon'ble Judges of the High Court attended the function. The New Judicial Complex, apart from having the court rooms, would have provision for malkhana, lawyers' chambers, parking facility and residences for the Judicial Officers. To be built at the cost of Rs.3,48,00,000/-, the project would be completed on or before 15.07.2007.

Great enthusiasm was witnessed among the people of the area, who had gathered in large number to receive and meet Hon'ble Mr.Justice Vijender Jain, Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court. People had put several welcome gates on the way and had also arranged a special musical band.

The welcome address was read out by Hon'ble Mr.Justice T.P.S. Mann, who congratulated the people of the area for the construction of the judicial court complex. While welcoming the guests, Hon'ble Mr. Justice T.P.S. Mann apprised the people about the efforts made by Hon'ble the Chief Justice for the construction of the judicial court complexes.

      Apart from others, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Ashok Bhan, Judge, Supreme Court of India; Hon'ble Mr. Justice J.S.Narang, Chairman, Building Committee, Punjab; Hon'ble Mrs. Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab and Hon'ble Mr.Surinder Singla, Finance Minister, Punjab addressed the gathering. The key note address was delivered by the Hon'ble Chief Justice, who was given a standing ovation, when he raised to address the gathering. Hon'ble the Chief Justice appreciated the efforts made by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Ashok Bhan, Judge, Supreme Court of India and his revered father, late Babu Brish Bhan, who was the Chief Minister of Pepsu State, for the development of the area and expressed the view that He has no doubt about the bright future of the area. Hon'ble the Chief Justice pointed out that as per the reports received by him from his colleagues, whereas the Government of Haryana was cooperating fully for the construction of the court complexes in the State, the Government of Punjab was showing little interest and was not providing requisite money. At this, Hon'ble the Finance Minister assured the Chief Justice that the Punjab Government would provide necessary funds. Hon'ble the Chief Justice also asked Hon'ble Mr. Justice J.S.Narang, Chairman, Building Committee to modify the plan of the building and make provision for providing air conditioning in the plan. Hon'ble the Chief Justice stated that justice will now be delivered to the people at their doorstep at Moonak. Hon'ble the Chief Justice also declared at the spot that the judicial court will start functioning at Moonak from January 8, 2007. At this, Hon'ble the Chief Justice was lustily cheered by the crowd.
